No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em
Big stakes, big winnings, and glory. No-Limit, despite the stakes, is the most popular and most exciting of the different Texas Hold ‘Em limit variations. As its name implies, there is no limit to the amount of bet that you can place (actually, what’s more true is that you can place all of your chips on the table during any point in the hand). Also, you can’t add chips or remove chips during a hand.
In No-Limit however, the minimum bet that you can place is the size or amount of the Big hand and not the small hand.
How To Play Pot Limit Hold'em
Fixed-Limit
A much more safer option, the Fixed-Limit games require that players time their attacks. Unlike the No-Limit version, which can see players displaying their excitement to win by putting all of their chips in their bet, the Fixed-Limit betting variation makes it a point that all players are able to place in bets if they have the chips for it.
Obviously, the difference with No-Limit is that Fixed-Limit has limits. Bet sizes (small and big bets) are determined before the start of the game. And blinds are determined by the bet sizes. The Big Blind is equal to the Small Bet limit. For example in a $4/$8 limit game, the small bet would be $4, the big bet, $8, the big blind $4, and the small blind $2.
In Fixed-Limit games, players can only bet in increments. During the Pre-Flop and the Flop, bets are only made in increments of the Small Bet or $4. This means players can call a $4-bet or raise it for another $4, for a total of $8 in the pot. If anyone wants to reraise, they do so by placing another $4, making the pot $12. During the Turn and River, players bet in increments of the Big Bet.
Fixed-Limit also has a maximum number of allowed bets that you can make per round. Normally it is capped at five bets per round, but this also depends on the house rules, and can differ from game to game. When the cap is reached, player are only allowed to check or fold.
Pot-Limit Hold ‘Em
Pot-Limit is for players who want something in between No-Limit and Fixed-Limit Texas hold ‘Em. With Pot-Limit, you can’t bet your whole stack, but you also aren’t hindered in betting big by the caps. With this variation the most money that you can bet is what’s on the pot, plus any other bets on the table, plus your required call before the raise.
