- A point spread allows bettors to wager on the margin of victory in an NFL game. A -3 favorite needs to win by four points or more to cover the spread. A +3 underdog needs to lose by less than three points, or win the game, to cover the spread. A minus sign indicates that team is the favorite; a plus sign indicates that team is the underdog.
When the Cowboys travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens on Tuesday night (8:05 p.m. ET, Fox, NFL Network, Amazon Prime Video), both teams will be making up.a game that was originally scheduled for last Thursday. While the Cowboys are 12 days between games, the Ravens are playing their second game in 7 days.
How will Baltimore (6-5) respond in a must-win game for its AFC playoff hopes? Will Dallas (3-8) continue to slide further behind New York and Washington in the NFC East race?
The Ravens are running out of time to get back into the tournament after going 14-2 as the AFC top seed a season ago. The Cowboys now have the worst record in their conference under head coach Mike McCarthy.
Here's everything to know about betting on Cowboys vs. Ravens in Week 13, including updated odds, trends and our expert's prediction for the NFL game on Tuesday.

- Spread: Ravens by 8
- Over/under: 45
- Point spread odds: Cowboys +280, Ravens -350
The initial line had this game off the board until it was announced both quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back J.K. Dobbins were cleared from the COVID-19 list to help the offense. The Cowboys have played better of late but are still coming off a bad Thanksgiving home loss to Washington.
Cowboys vs. Ravens all-time series
They have met only five times with the Ravens holding a 4-1 advantage. The Cowboys did win the 2016 meeting in Dallas, 27-17. Before then, the Ravens reeled off four in a row, with three of those meetings coming in Baltimore.
Three trends to know
— 55 percent of spread bettors like the Cowboys to cover and keep it close as more-than-touchdown underdogs.
— 100 percent of over/under bettors think the total is too low based on the Ravens' and Cowboys' explosive playmakers.
— The Cowboys are 2-9 against the spread and six of their games have gone over. The Ravens are 6-5 against the spread but only 2-3 in their past five.
Three things to watch
Odds For Next Week Nfl
Andy Dalton in prime time vs. the Ravens
Dalton, the Cowboys' starting quarterback, is notoriously known for not playing well in night nationally televised games. He is 6-16 in those situations. He also is 8-8 against the Ravens from his Bengals days, a much better mark. He famously helped the Bills get into the playoffs two years ago by beating the Ravens. He needs to channel his best AFC North mojo here for the upset.
Jackson back in action
How will the Ravens' dynamic dual-threat quarterback respond after missing a game with the novel coronavirus? Will the rookie Dobbins go back to being featured with great energy for the offense? Baltimore needs both skill players to be at their best in a so-called get-well game.
Cowboys' wideouts vs. Ravens' cornerbacks
The Ravens have two very good cornerbacks in Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters with whom to try to contain Dalton's top two wideouts, CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper. But injuries to Jimmy Smith (groin-questionable) and Tramon Williams (thigh-doubtful) make them thin at the position. Dalton needs other guys to step up in the passing game and also get relief from Ezekiel Elliott running hard again against a weaker run defense of late.
Stat that matters
156.4. That's how many average rushing yards the Cowboys give up per game, last in the NFL. The Ravens haven't been good against the run of late, but the Cowboys have become downright terrible. There's no question with a sputtering passing game, they need to keep the ball on the ground with Jackson, Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Mark Ingram as much as possible.
Cowboys vs. Ravens prediction
The Ravens are operating on a short week but the matchup is too good for them at home as they want to run the ball and make big plays downfield in the passing game off of that with Jackson. Those are two elements with which Dallas struggles big time. Dalton will do some damage on the road, but it's not nearly enough.
Ravens 31, Cowboys 20
There are 32 franchises in the NFL, but only a handful are recognized as one of the league’s signature teams. The Pittsburgh Steelers are on that very short list. Since the turn of the century alone, the Steelers have made it to the postseason 12 times. They came up just short in their quest for the playoffs the last two seasons, but we can fully expect the club to be in the running once again.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is looking for a big bounce back after an injury-shortened campaign, while linebacker T.J. Watt leads the way on defense and remains a very unwelcome sight for opponents. The Steelers have their work cut out in the AFCNorth, but the talent is there to make a run.
